Redwood City – The County of San Mateo today announced the release of Measure K funding opportunities to provide services for residents in three priority areas: children, families and seniors; emergency preparedness; and housing and homelessness.
“The Board of Supervisors is looking for bold, innovative ideas,” said County Executive Mike Callagy. “This is not about business as usual. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference, to boost equity and to improve lives here in San Mateo County.”
Applicants can be nonprofit organizations, private businesses or joint ventures (individuals are not eligible to apply). Entities of any size are encouraged to apply.
The County anticipates approximately $35 million will be available.
Today’s announcement is the next step in a process that began months ago to hear from residents about needs in their community. Applicants are expected to tailor proposals that will address those needs in the priority areas.
Examples are providing additional transit options for seniors and those with disabilities, developing linguistically and culturally diverse child care centers and home-based options, providing emergency housing assistance and developing community specific plans to address natural hazards such as fires, earthquakes and floods.
Funding will come from Measure K, a voter-approved half-cent countywide sales tax that provides local funds for local needs.

Potential applicants are directed to the County’s procurement portal, where they must register to find out more details about this funding opportunity.
