The San Mateo County Domestic Violence Council’s Domestic Violence Awareness Committee, in collaboration with the San Mateo County Youth Commission, is proud to announce a successful first annual Healthy Relationships Art Contest for Teens.
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. To spread that awareness, we encouraged students in San Mateo County ages 12-18 to submit their best artwork that depicts the idea of healthy relationships. We received 34 submissions and the judging was challenging due to the quality of what was provided.
The Domestic Violence Awareness Committee selected three amazing art pieces. The first was Katherine Simmons from San Mateo High School. She was followed by Margarita Gonzalez Villa from San Mateo High School and then Moroni Jimenez from Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School.
The Domestic Violence Council thanks the Awareness Committee Chair, Nicole Reyes from Bay Area Legal Aid for coordinating this contest.
