Kiku Crossing, a new affordable housing development, built by MidPen Housing, and located in downtown San Mateo is expected to open in Spring 2024. The Department of Housing invested more than $5 million dollars of Measure K funds to help with the cost of building the 225-unit property, and the Housing Authority of San Mateo County awarded the project Project-Based Vouchers. The new affordable property will provide homes for 22 formerly homeless households, 8 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and 57 “General Public Employees”, including employees of the County and certain other public entities. The remaining apartments are affordable with restricted rents designed to serve a range of households. Kiku Crossing’s units for homeless households and individuals with intellectual or developmental disability will be filled through County referrals.
