Redwood City – The County of San Mateo is bracing for more late-winter rain as crews continue to clear roads and remove fallen trees from the latest round of storms. Here is what you need to know:
Redwood City – Three years after the first COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders, the County of San Mateo has invested approximately $360 million on recovery initiatives focused on assisting those hit hardest by the pandemic.
Redwood City – San Mateo County residents with losses from the storms that began in late December 2022 have one day left to get in-person help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. A Disaster Recovery Center at the San Mateo County Event Center will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. The center is open today until 5 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Disaster assistance may include grants to help pay for temporary housing and essential home repairs as well as other serious disaster-related needs such as medical and dental expenses, transportation, childcare and moving and storage expenses.

Redwood City – Local residents who lost their jobs or businesses or had their work hours reduced due to impacts brought about by the severe storms that began in late December have until tomorrow – Thursday, March 2 – to apply for Disaster Unemployment Insurance.

Redwood City – The Measure K Oversight Committee today presented a “Ten Years of Progress” report to the Board of Supervisors. The report lists accomplishments from the Measure K half-cent sales tax, first approved by voters in November 2012.
Redwood City – The County will seek $5 million in state funds to help local farmworkers become homeowners. That is the unanimous decision today by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. The five-member Board voted to authorize staff to apply for a $5 million grant that would fund the purchase of manufactured homes, potentially in partnership with the City of Half Moon Bay.
