On November 15, 2022, the Board of Supervisors adopted San Mateo County Parks’ Interpretive Strategic Plan, which will guide our environmental, historic, and cultural education programs for the next five to ten years.
The Interpretive Strategic Plan was developed in collaboration with 29 partner groups, community-based organizations, and stakeholders. The Plan establishes a vision for maximizing visitor experiences through interpretation and strengthening our communication and outreach to all communities. With a focus on providing equitable access to parks and programs, we will continue to build on current partnerships while establishing new relationships with community-based organizations. The San Mateo County Parks Interpretive Division was established in 2014 to cultivate environmental education and community engagement. Since then, the division has grown, and in 2022 hosted 187 events for more than 6000 attendees and collaborated with numerous community partners.
