Gretchen manages the San Carlos and Half Moon Bay Airports, focusing on safe and efficient operations while balancing the needs of the airports with those of the surrounding communities.
Gretchen began her career with the County in 1998 as an Airport Operations Specialist before expanding her aviation experience in various roles at the San Jose Mineta International Airport and Federal Aviation Administration. In 2012, she returned to the County in her current role of Airports Manager. Gretchen holds a bachelor’s in aviation management from San Jose State University (SJSU) and a master’s in public administration from the University of Southern California (USC).
Passionate about empowering the next generation of aviation professionals, Gretchen teaches part-time in the aviation program at SJSU and actively participates in aviation youth and scholarship programs. In addition, she is the Northern California Director for the Southwest Chapter of the American Association of Airport Executives and a Board Member of the Aero Club of Northern California.
A private pilot, Gretchen spends her days off exploring airports in the Bay Area and beyond.
